VOTING IN WISCONSIN
QUALIFICATIONS:
U.S. citizenship, 18 years of age by Election Day, residence in Wisconsin and your voting ward/district for at least 10 days, but immediately preceded by residence elsewhere in Wisconsin allows an elector to vote in the former ward/district by absentee ballot. Absentee ballots are available at each municipal clerk's office. A request for an absentee ballot by mail must be received in the municipal clerk's office by 5:00 p.m. on the 5th day immediately preceding the election. For additional information on voting in Wisconsin, please contact your local municipal clerk, the LWVWI wesite http://www.lwvwi.org or the State Elections Board website http://www.elections.state.wi.us
ELECTION DAY VOTER REGISTRATION:
Registration is required. The deadline for mail-in registration in most municipalities is 5:00 p.m. the 2nd Wednesday before the election. You can also register in person at the clerk's office (up to the day before election) or at the polls on Election Day. Acceptable proof of residence is required, such as a driver's license or identification card with your current and complete name and address. You may give the last four numbers of your Social Security number if you do not have a driver's license or ID card. Other proof of residence such as a utility bill or a bank statement that includes your name, address and city may be used. If you do not have proof, a qualified voter from your municipality can serve as your witness to verify your address. This corroborator must then provide acceptable proof of residence.
